Dutch

Dutch is our adorable brindle boy. We think he’s about 18 months old as his chip was implanted about a year ago, but no DOB was registered. He’s a medium sized mixed breed, we’re not 100% what of just that it has made him very handsome! Ducthy has the biggest softest puppy-dog eyes and he absolutely knows how to use them! He’s melted our hearts!

This beautiful pup has had a rough start to life, being dumped & then found as a stray. He just wants a family to love him (and play lots of ball with!), he really deserves a chance to be safe and looked after. He has so much to give.

So far this pup has been a bit anxious in the pound kennels (not that we could blame him, it can be a very scary place for such a young lad). We’re hoping that he’ll be able to relax a bit more now that he’s with us, and that we can get him home or into foster ASAP.

So far he seems very friendly with everyone, he just wants to snuggle! He has been friendly with dogs in non-contact interactions so far, and we will continue to assess if he can live with other dogs.

He’s currently in our assessment period, and we will have more information on the type of home he needs soon (& lots more pics of his grade-A begging I’m sure!).

Please be aware we are a small team of volunteers and we are working as hard as we can to look after our animals so sometimes it can take us a couple of days to get back to you.

If you are applying to adopt a dog our normal adoption process is as follows:
1. We will review your written application
2. If you are suitable from that application we will email you to arrange a phone conversation about the dog & your previous dog experience
3. We will then arrange a first meeting with you and the dog (this may be in kennels, in foster or with the original owner depending on the individuals). We will receive feedback from you on what you thought & from the dog’s guardian on what they thought of you.
4. If the visit goes well & you want to proceed, we will arrange a home check. This will generally be in person but in occasional circumstances (I.E. you live further away from our trustees and no one is available) may be a virtual home check.
5. We have a minimum of two visits with all dogs before they go home with an adopter, paperwork and an adoption fee must be processed before the final adoption takes place.
6. We then require checks (normally via phone calls & photos) to ensure the dog is settling in well, we will provide support as needed. For some dogs, we have a short foster period with the applicant before the final adoption to ensure the dog settles well.
