Gone But Never Forgotten
We have been incredibly fortunate as a rescue that the vast majority of our animals get to leave us and live long and happy lives with their forever families. But loss is a part of life, and we want to honour some of the incredible animals who are no longer with us by sharing their memory with all of you. We hope that you will love all the animals in your lives and treat them all with the respect and dignity that they deserve, and remember all of those who weren’t as fortunate.
Our aim as a rescue, is to help as many animals as we can and the animals on this page remind us how important that is. While we can never help half as many animals as need it, we will always endeavour to do better and with your help improve the lives of the pets in our care. Every animal we work with is part of our family, and we will always love them.
“Holly was the most beautiful dog and gave us so much we only had her for a short time but she has left such a big memory.
She just wanted love and cuddles and we enjoyed the slobbery messes she left for us.
We as a family were glad to have had the opportunity to foster and love such a wonderful dog.”

Holly 2017 - 2025
Holly came to us Christmas of 2024, from the Manchester Police. This poor girl was an abuse case, and was skin and bones when we got her. Holly was such a gorgeous dog, a real gentle giant. Despite her size, Holly was a lap dog at heart and loved to play.
As for so many dogs, her size made it hard to re-home Holly, and it broke our hearts watching her struggle in kennels, an atmosphere she found very stressful. We are forever indebted to her incredible fosterers that took her in. She was a different dog with them, it let her relax and shine. I am so glad that Holly had the chance to know how loved she truly was, and I am so sad that she couldn’t have had longer with her wonderful foster family. In the end, they were her forever home, and the best home she could’ve ever asked for. Holly was taken far too soon by cancer, and is a reminder of how important it is to get our dogs into foster- so that they know how loved they are and get to spend as much time as possible with families doing what they love. We will continue to try and get as many dogs as we can into foster, and help as many animals as we can, in Holly’s memory.
Atticus (Atticat) 2010-2025
Atticat was truly one of the most special cats I have ever had the good fortune to work with. He may have been an old boy, but he was a handsome lion of a cat. Atticus was a stray cat, brought in after he had been wondering around some people’s gardens.
He was with us for two weeks before we had to make the heart breaking decision to let him go, he had multiple concurrent conditions (FIP, heart disease, dental disease) and unfortunately there wasn’t any treatment that could’ve helped him. Those two weeks were spent on our laps, eating very high quality food and purring. While I know we did our best for him, but he is just one of the many examples of cats who are failed by society. I wish I could’ve had him his whole life, and kept him safe and happy but I am forever grateful that I got to know him. I will keep him with me always, and when rescue is hard he reminds me why we do what we do. I truly love him with my whole heart and I miss him everyday.

Caesar 2011-2025
This older boy had been living rough on the streets for two or three years, his family having lost interest in caring for him. Caesar was a lovely, friendly, purry boy who deserved better, and we're grateful to the people who cared enough to bring him into rescue with us. He came in skin & bone with an unfillable appetite. He knew love, warmth, comfort and a full tummy while he was with us. Sadly, he had intractable bowel and kidney problems, and despite our vet's best efforts it became clear the kindest thing we could do for him was to allow him to pass away with love and dignity.

Jammie & Dodger 2024
(Trio’s two black girls)
Jammie and Dodger were two of trio’s wonderful little kittens. They were only with us for two days. While we monitor all of our pregnant mother and kittens very closely, record their weights twice daily, give supplemental feeds to litters that need them, and take them to the vets at the smallest signs of trouble, there isn’t always anything you can do.
These two beauties passed from fading kitten syndrome, and the vet said that likely they were born with something not quite fully formed inside.
We are so lucky for the many many healthy kittens that we get to work with but it is so important to remember and honour those that we have lost. We do this with every animal we re-home, and every kitten we care for.
We hope for every kitten to be healthy and happy, and we are just so grateful that Custard, Hobnob and McVitie grew up to be the gorgeous boys they are today.
Twiggy 2024
(Pumkin’s brown & white tabby boy)
Twig was the smallest in Pumpkins litter, he was only a day old when he passed. I was there with him when he was born, and am so lucky to get to have witnessed his life if only for a short while. Though we will never know what went wrong for him, we know that he was loved deeply by his mum and by his fosterer and that his siblings have grown to be safe and loved.
The Jewels 2025
(Cerce’s three tabby & white kittens)
Cerce was ill during her pregnancy and gave birth on the hottest day of the year, while we don’t know specifically what caused it to happen, only one of her kittens (Achilles) had grown properly in the womb. Cerce had a very difficult labour, needing to visit the vets multiples times. She gave birth to three still-born babies, who were never developed enough to survive.
We always try our best to look after our queens during pregnancy, but sometimes they come to us sick. We honoured these kittens by putting extra measures in place with Achilles to look after him as he grew. The illness that caused his sibling’s development to stop unfortunately also affected the development of his brain, giving him Cerebellar Hypoplasia. While this effects his motor function, he is now very happy in his forever home with all the love and extra accommodations he needs.
The Birds 2025
(Mrs P’s two tabby & white kittens)
Mrs P was a very small, very young mother. This can lead to complications and unfortunately two of her kittens were still born. While we never got to meet, these babies will forever be in our hearts. Their mum, and their sister (Falcon) are such beautiful cats and we know they would’ve been too. It is so important for cats to get the care they need during pregnancy, and we are so heartbroken for all the cats that are dumped because of their pregnancy. Mrs P was one of these poor souls and we are just so grateful she was brought to us when she was, and one of her kittens survived.
