At The Yorkshire Rescue, we are a small team of volunteers working as hard as we can to help all of the animals in our care (& help you find the newest member of your family!) and we are honoured to get to introduce ourselves to you all!

Lynne (Trustee) - Finance Officer
As Trustee and Treasurer, I oversee the charity’s finances and help ensure everything runs smoothly behind the scenes. With over 23 years of experience in the banking sector, I bring a practical and organised approach to managing our funds and supporting the wider team. Being part of the charity allows me to combine my professional background with something I’m deeply passionate about — helping animals in need and supporting the people who care for them.
Rescue work holds a very special place in my heart. Seeing the transformation from fear and uncertainty to trust and happiness never fails to move me. It’s a reminder of the power of compassion and teamwork, and it’s a privilege to play even a small part in giving animals the second chance they deserve.
Outside of the charity, I enjoy spending time in the garden — it’s my happy place and a perfect balance to busy days. I also share my home with our two wonderful Labradors, Luna and Lily, who are never far from my side (or from a muddy flower bed!).
Abi (Trustee) - Fundraising Officer & Social Media
As a dedicated trustee, I help guide our charity’s vision and ensure we make a meaningful difference in our community. My role involves coordinating our wonderful volunteers and organising fundraising events. Being part of the rescue brings me a huge sense of purpose and joy — it’s incredibly rewarding to see dogs lives transformed through care, compassion and love.
In my spare time, I enjoy helping my partner on his farm, lending a hand with arable farming and making the most of life in the countryside. At home, I’m kept company by my two lovely Labradors, Luna and Lily, who fill every day with muddy paws and happy chaos.

Rhuaridh - Dog Team Lead & Social Media
I’ve been volunteering with the rescue for around 5 years now! I help mostly with the dog side of the rescue, doing dog assessments as they come into rescue & owner assessments to help match them to their homes. I also foster cats (me & Helen have fostered just over 100 cats combined in the last two years), mainly focussing on neonates & those that need a little extra help to become healthy.
I’m a vet student the rest of the time, so half the year I help out virtually (doing social media & re-jigging the website, and doing emails). I love working with our animals, they’re all so amazing (especially my dog Buck & my two cats Sherbert & Dandelion who are all foster fails from the rescue!)
